The military successes throughout modern history have been followed by recovery. I think if hospitals, schools and infrastructure would have followed the initial phases of the Afghan War we would see a strong uprising from the people to push out terrorism. Instead, I think we have the opposite.

Also spending years funding Musharraf was not wise as we're now finding out.

There wasn't much choice but to prop up Musharraf, he cooperated as much as any Paki leader would.

The military is being infiltrated at command level by fundamentalists, even now.
We can't control Pakistan politics, but we can get out of Afganistan as a lead force.
We can support Pakistan, but large US troop deployment makes us the common enemy.
Outsider occupiers. don't fare well in Afg.
